Pittsburgh Pirates 9% of reaching the playoffs.
I know after Monday’s opening day win, Pirate fans have canceled their October plans. I give the Pirates a 9% chance of making the playoffs and 14% chance of finishing over .500. It would take career years out every position player combined with career seasons from unproven pitchers, Charlie Morton, Ross Ohlendorf and Daniel McCutchen. The other key for the Pirates is staying healthy, since they have very little depth not to mention a few injury prone guys on the roster. How the pitching staff does over the next two weeks will give us the storyline for the rest of the season. Fans should also keep their eyes on Iwamura, Dommitt and Milledge, as their batting stats will probably be the difference between wins or losses.
