Montreal to bid for Sidney Crosby?
The Penguins will of course beat Montreal in this playoff series. The interesting thing to speculate now that Montreal has decent team is will they consider bidding for Sidney Crosby? Real Madrid paid $132m for Ronaldo last summer. As far as I understand there is no rule against buying a player from another team. Would the Penguins take a $100m offer for Crosby? I doubt it especially with moving into a new building next year. If the Penguins win another Cup or two, a move might become more likely. Would you sell Crosby and for what price? Forbes has the Pens worth $222m so we almost talking about half the franchise value here. I guess you can make an argument that Crosby is bigger than the team. For the record Forbes had the Canadiens worth around $330 million. I doubt Montreal could come up with the cash, but in theory it would change sports forever. What if Montreal would offer Plekanec and Halak + $100m for Fleury and Crosby?
