Andy Van Slyke Next Pirate Coach?

The Pirates should be in the market for a new manager. John Russell is not the answer, and probably part of the problem. The fun question to ask is who would be a possible candidate? Former Pirate and current Brewers coach Dale Sveum would probably be a likely option. Jay Bell and Doug Drabek could be considered. However I think the top realistic target would be Andy Van Slyke. Until recently he was a coach in Detroit. I doubt Van Slyke would put up with this losing. A big name name like Ozzie Guillen, or Bobby Valentine is not an option with Bob Nutting as the owner. The next best thing would be to give a former player looking to breakthrough a chance. I don’t think Barry is taking calls, but Van Slyke might pick up the phone.
