Local WPIAL Basketball Playoff Clinchers

The WPIAL Basketball Playoffs are almost all officially set. Many local teams have made the tournament. Starting with girl’s basketball, Kittanning has reached the AAA Playoffs and could be a dangerous squad. In Double-A, Apollo Ridge is Section Champions followed by Ford City. West Shamokin has also made it in with a 7-5 section record.

In boy’s basketball, Freeport is one win away from a prefect 12-0 section season. It will be very interesting to see how the YellowJackets perform in the playoffs. The Ford City Boys despite being under .500 in section play qualified with 38-32 over West Shamokin on Friday. Apollo Ridge is also in, and they’ll try to spoil Freeport’s perfect run tonight in their regular season finale.
