Ford City, Freeport Win Basketball Openers

Ford City started section play on the right foot, as they defeated Springdale 45-32. The Sabers look to be right in the mix in their section. However the major statement on Friday was made by Freeport. The YellowJackets defeated Burrell 53-49 and the win makes them clear favorites in Section 1 Double-A. Freeport features a handful of senior returning starters, so expectations are high in YellowJacket Country. Also Friday Night Kittanning fell to Mars 59-42. The Wildcats might have the best basketball team in county, but it looks like they could have a very difficult time in their Triple-A section. Early indications are their section is as strong as it has ever been.
