2009 – The Year or the Title Game

Local fans had a lot of big games to watch in the 2009. The year started with the Steelers in the Super Bowl, followed by a FC vs. WS boys section basketball defacto Title Game. Pitt came within seconds of the Final Four, Robert Morris made the Tournament, and even Duquesne reached the A-10 Title Game. Ford City Hockey won an Open Division Title, and the Pens won the Stanley Cup. Leechburg Softball reached the semi-finals. In the fall the West Shamokin won a WPIAL Volleyball Title, and Freeport reach the Double-A Title Game. Pitt Football also played in a defacto Big East Title Game. Even with all the said, the Ktg vs. FC regular season football game ended being the most talked about game of year. It will be hard to ever match the consistency of 2009.
