WPIAL’s Best Football Rivalries

This is the most exciting week of the year for high school football fans. Final playoff spots will be filled, and a lot of local rivals will meet. Of course, close to home, we have the great Kittanning vs. Ford City rivalry with a playoff spot on the line. There is a slim chance Kittanning could move up next year which might halt the game or at least take away some of the importance.

Elsewhere there is the huge Gateway at McKeesport game, that will decide Quad A’s top seed. Jeannette vs. GCC, USC vs. Mt. Lebo, and Penn Hills vs. Woodland Hills also have a storied past. Finally this week will be the last “Battle of the Bridge” between Rochester and Monaca, which quite possibly the most famous rivalry in WPIAL history.
