WPIAL Volleyball: 4 Local Teams in the Playoffs.

When you think about the local high school sports scene I doubt volleyball is the first thing that comes to mind. Armstrong County could be put on the volleyball map in a big way during the WPIAL playoffs. Four local girls’ teams, West Shamokin, Freeport, Ford City, and Kittanning are in the playoffs which begin next week. West Shamokin a traditional power was reinforced with Elderton students to form a potent team. Freeport has been top notch, since Tom Phillips took over. The Ford City Girls were able to put together a solid season so far and Kittanning is probably the story of the year, as their program has completely been turned around. FC and Kittanning have one final regular season game, and it’s against each other Thursday night 7pm in Kittanning.
