pirates-logoThis is the third final part of the season that was, or wasn’t for the Pirates. We’re taking a look at the hitters. If I told you prior to the season the team leader in hits and RBI’s would be Andy LaRoche, you probably wouldn’t have believed it. Considering LaRoche is only hitting .251, it goes with out saying this team has struggled offensively. Garrett Jones, and Andrew McCutchen have been revelations, and they should improve. The Pirates need to fine a full time position for Jones who is the only power threat on the team. The Pirates lacked a few guys capable of getting on base. You can pencil in McCutchen, Jones and probably Milledge for next season. The Pirates still need at least 3 more above average bats, and at least two of which to have 25+ HR potential, before they can compete offensively. Hitting’s Final Grade: D
