Wilson, Snell Traded – Pirates Start Spring Training Early
Yesterday the Pirates traded Jack Wilson and Ian Snell to Seattle for Ronny Cedeno, Jeff Clement, Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin, and Nathan Adcock. Cedeno is joining the Pirates while Clement is going to Triple-A and the other three are headed to Single-A. The Bucs are helping finance over $3m still owed to Wilson and Snell for this year. The Pirates now have the large collection of 4-A players. Essentially the Pirates have started spring training early, really early. Everyone besides McCutchen, Maholm, and Duke are trying out for a spot and position on next year’s roster. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they start changing the entire fielding team after the fifth inning of each game. Given the fact they have no idea where to play half these guys, maybe they should be treating the remaining two months of the season like spring training.
