Stan Savran / FSN Pittsburgh, Leave Sports Talk Void.

savranMost of you probably know Stan Savran’s long running Sportsbeat show on Fox Sports Pittsburgh came to end on Monday night leaving a void in the local sports media, especially on TV. I normally tell guests or people unfamiliar with my show, that it is very much like Stan Savran’s show only a lower budget. Many fans outside of Pittsburgh who have sports packages or satellites are upset, because it severed as the only way for them to get local sports insights. Even here in central Armstrong County, with radio signals from Pittsburgh sketchy at best, I’m sure many people watched Savran’s show. It will be interesting to see if Fox Sports does anything to replace the show. As of now they seem to indicate they’ll only be doing Pirate and Penguin games along with the pre and post games analysis. What are you thoughts on end of Savran on Sportsbeat?

This show was one that I looked foward to every night for 18 years. I can’t believe that we are the greatest football franchise of all time and we’re not going to have game analysis, locker room interviews, and Tunch with a game overview on Monday nights. The ending of Sportsbeat is an absolute outrage. I am a huge Steelers fan living in Jersey. I depended on that show to be my link to the Pittsburgh sports world. If FSN doesn’t replace Sportsbeat with a similar show, I will no longer suscribe to their sports package. Great work Stan…loved the show!

The FSN-PITT clowns must be related to the Pirates owner Nutting. When you have something good, there must be a problem. I hear it was nothing to do with money. Some jerkweed from corprate decided that the show wasn’t up to their standards. It may have to do with Stan’s political leanings. He is pro labor and Rupert Murdock doesn’t like that. Unless the Pens or Pirates are on. I will not watch FSN. When the games are on, I’ll remember who are the advertisor’s are, and I will not buy their products! Thanks FOX.

What more can you expect from a network(?) that dumped a hall-of-fame hockey announcer and replaced him with 2 klutzes like we have now.
What really ticks me off is they’ve replaced Stan with Rewind…this endless display of has-beens like Jim Leyland and Barry Bonds and Stargell. Who gives a sh– about that crap? Clemente hated Pittsburgh and never spent one minute here beyond the season. Yet they make him out like he’s a saint or something. If I see Jim Leyland on Fox one more time I’m gonna puick. This so-called network doesn’t even have up-to-date sports programming to feel the void, let alone local sports. Stan got calls nightly from all over the country…sometimes other countries. The next talk show we get will probably originate in Philadelphia or Baltimore. Way to go FOX.SUCKS.NET.

It was the only means for those of us outside the pittsburgh market to Really follow the Steelers! Tunch, stan Pre and post game steeler round table etc. Once again the FSN network proves they dont get it. I suppose we will get even more poker, than they already broadcsat. What a waste. If the show made money as has been reported, it does’nt even make business sense.

I looked forward to all Stan Savaran’s shows. I am a die hard Steeler Fan and would watch all the other news that Stan had on as well. What a stupid mistake. I quess some other network with half a brain will pick up the future sucess and give Stan the TV time he and we all deserve. I live in Cailfornia born and raised on the East Coast and will miss all his shows. I will cancel that network now. Thank you Stan for all the years you are a class act. I speak for all of us, hurry up and get to work we will be watching.

I was not able to see the game yesterday even though I pay DirectV to much to see the games. I deeply wanted to hear the sports news about Mr Jones and his three home runs in the game. I could not because Sports Beat is gone. I feel so cheated for what I pay to see the Pirates and the Steelers. What if our pitching would turn around and we would win the World Series.? What a town is the City where I was born in Shadyside Hospital 72 years ago.

I will be canceling my Fox Sports package from Direct TV. Stan’s show was the only way we out of towners are able to keep up with the daily sports news of Pittsburgh. Thats what sold the Fox Sports package to me in the first place. They don’t have much to offer now. Steeler fans that live out of state got screwed by Fox.

Savran on Sports was the program that kept Pittsburgh Sports Fans connected. Many relocated Steeler Fans were able to stay in tune with the team as a result of the show. Thanks Fox!! I will be sure to let Direct TV know why I cancelled my Sports package!

my comment is the same as everyones when you have a lock on the sports news you add on to it not cancel it. someone needs sent down the road and sportsbeat needs put back on the air so we will again know whats going on in pittsburgh sports. I dont have a clue whats going on in steeler camp for the first time in 18 years. what a shame to destroy a sports network best program for whatever reason. wake up management.

Like every other Pittsburgh sports fan that lives and breathes the Steelers and Pens that live outside of Pittsburgh NOW WHAT? How will we get our info the opinions and all the updates?
I to have Direct TV and the sports package for that reason now why keep it I do have the NHL and NFL but I still need sportsbeat . The internet, Espn they just do notgive the same amount of info that we all enjoyed from Sportsbeat.
Come on FSN lets bring Stan and the crew back without them who will watch FSN there is no reason to tune in now. Now What ARE Real FANS to DO for there Pittsburgh Sport FIx?

Isn’t there anything thing that can be done to bring back Stan , I live in New Cumberland Pa and watched daily and now there isn’t any coverage of Steeler training campof the Superbowl Champs , and not to mention there wont be coverage of the Stanley Cup Champs the penguins. How could such a dumb descion be made? No local coverage for the champs but yet the Eagles still have daily coverage ,makes you wonder

This is the most disapointing thing I’ve heard in the upcoming football season, as most other I live in Sothern California and I look forward every single night to this show it’s one of the only reasons I have Direct S_ _ T TV and it’s my only daily link to the inside story of my Steelers.
I hope who ever is responcible for making this desision pays dearly.

    BRING STAN BACK NOW !!!!!!

Unbelievable!!!! I have lived in Dallas Texas for the past 15 years and Sportsbeat/ Stan Savaran were my link to Pittsburgh and local sports teams. There are no sports shows that come close to the content and personal touch during interviews that Stan has brought to the table. I will not support the Fox Sports network any longer and will cancel my subscription. You ruined a good thing. I hope the programming board decision maker gets fired. Stan will show up somewhere. Fox is the loser.

Sportbeat and Stan the Man were the lifeline to Pittsburgh sports fans around the nation. Funny… many local sports shows across the country are populated with yahoo homers who have the sports instinct of a bean bag chair. Yet, Stan and his crew set a standard for television sports that I haven’t seen rivaled anywhere.

It’s a shame, but then Fox is a scam organization with political leanings close to Idi Amin. Note to Fox: I cancelled my sports package on DirecTV because of this insipid move, not that you loathsome bottom feeders care. I let DirecTV know why I cancelled, but again you cretinous wretches will wash down another double – Martini and chortle how you put it to those Pittsburgh minions. Let em eat cake. Right?

Fox – Fair and Balanced?…nah…… Fox – Disdainful and Pathetic

    Have a nice day.
