PIAA Football Will Stick with Four Classifications.

It was close, but the PIAA will continue with four classifications at least through the next three season. At the PIAA Board Meeting it was a 15-13 vote in favor of the current four classification system for high school football. Certainly the topic will be front and center in another couple of years. In the end, the WPIAL couldn’t come up with a reasonable way to figure out how to send six teams to the PIAA playoffs. The other factor had to be extra travel for all schools across the state. The next major shake up will happen in all sports next year with enrollment updates.

In other high school football news I’m hearing that Ford City fans view Shady Side as the team to beat. However, the general consensus in the lower A-K valley, has a lot of people thinking Freeport will be the top team.
