Freeport International Starts Next Week.

Monday will be the start of the 2009 Freeport International Baseball Invitational. Kittanning’s Community Park and Ford Cliff fields will host day games. Freeport, Highlands High School, and Arnold will be hosting day and night games. Games will be taking place Monday through Saturday night. Around 30 teams are scheduled to participate, however this year only one international team (Japan) will be involved. Apparently the economic conditions have caused many teams to cancel their trips. However there will be a nice contingent of out of state teams participating. The Old Timers’ Game is scheduled for Thursday night, and HR Derby is set for Friday. The complete schedule of all games should be posted on fortheloveofthegame.org.

Update: Kittanning Township Fire Hall not Community Park will be hosting games this year.

I think you are confused on the Kittanning Community Park Field participating in the Freeport International Invitational. Kittanning’s Community Park field is not invoved. The field being used is the Kittanning TOWNSHIP Recreational Authority Park Field which is located off U S Route 422 behind the Kittanning Township Fire Hall (3 miles east of Kittanning along Rt 422.) This later field also hosted the games in 2008. Thank You Don Stubrich
