Local WPIAL Football Teams Stick with 7:30 Kickoff.

Kittanning, Ford City, Freeport, West Shamokin, and the rest of the “AA” Allegheny conference will be starting their games at 7:30 again this season. Some WPIAL conferences are planning to start games at 7:00, since WPIAL officials now allow the change. I know Kittanning was in favor of the earlier start time, but apparently other high schools in the section favored 7:30. The reason for allowing teams to start earlier is many people felt the games were ending too late. There had been talk about the visiting team’s band performing before games, to shorten halftimes. Besides a long halftime, more passing and the way teams are managing the clock is leading to longer games. Plan on more late Friday nights again this season.
