Detroit doesn’t give in

2009 June 1

Have the Red Wings figured out the Penguins? They have in the first two games at least. A 3-1 win on Saturday was followed by another win last night. Now the pressure is on the Pens to win the next game. Detroit has played the first two games with a lot of energy. Detroit has been able to deny Crosby and Malkin space. This means their creating less quality chances for themselves, and also they are unable to create as many opportunities for the rest of the team. The Red Wings are seemingly the only team that has players who can stay with them. The Penguins’ have certainly had their chances and they’re playing pretty solid on defense. Detroit could get tired, or their luck could run out. Meanwhile, at least for now, Detroit has been able to figure out how to hold down the Pens.
